A cult that may (not) support abortion?

Recently in the news there has been a series of articles in the news where Mitt Romney was attacked because of his religion. As far as I can see this should have no place in the election, yet people make a huge deal out of it. Robert Jeffress called Mormonism a cult at the Values Voters Summit. They are acting like they are electing the Pope not the Commander In Chief, if Romney can do a better job why should he lose just because he is "not a christian."

It is a shame that religion is constantly pushed just like in the 2008 election where there where people who abstained from voting because of Obama's race.

It should also be noted that Jeffress has made comments similar to this before in 2008 he said "The value of electing a Christian goes beyond public policies. ... Christians are uniquely favored by God, [while] Mormons, Hindus and Muslims worship a false god. The eternal consequences outweigh political ones. It is worse to legitimize a faith that would lead people to a separation from God."

Perry also made some contradictory comments, he reiterated that he would like to completely defund Planned Parenthood. The reasons I see this as contradictory is because 1/5th of what they do is cancer detection and prevention and about 2/5th is STD detection and treatment. This was the reason he used to "justify" his HPV vaccination, to help fight cervical cancer and STD transmission. Yet he wants to completely defund Planned Parenthood simply because of abortions (which less then 3% of the budget is used on). To me this seems like he's willing to hurt thousands of women to push his own personal and ideological agenda.
